A prominent, publicly listed financial institution with a strong footprint across Europe is seeking a Legal Director to oversee all legal matters tied to its Luxembourg operations.
This regulated player operates across more than ten countries and plays a vital role in the acquisition and restructuring of non-performing loan portfolios (NPLs), collaborating with banks, institutional investors, and financial partners across the continent.
This is a key position, offering direct access to senior decision-making and close collaboration with the Group's legal, compliance, and investment functions.
Responsibilities
Your Responsibilities:
- Advise the business on a wide range of Luxembourg legal issues, particularly in corporate law, financial regulations, contract law, and governance.
- Support complex M&A transactions and debt portfolio acquisitions from start to finish.
- Draft, negotiate, and review all relevant legal documentation (NDAs, acquisition agreements, LOIs, term sheets, etc.).
- Liaise with internal stakeholders across local teams, the Group headquarters, and cross-functional departments.
- Provide concise legal assessments to senior leadership and investment committees.
- Oversee external counsel relationships and ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services.
- Contribute to cross-disciplinary projects involving compliance, risk management, and audits.
Profile
Your Profile:
- Law degree with a strong academic foundation.
- At least 7 years of relevant legal experience in Luxembourg, ideally within a top-tier law firm or a regulated financial institution.
- Deep understanding of Luxembourg legal frameworks, with a focus on transactional and regulatory matters.
- Previous exposure to NPLs, M&A, or structured finance is a major asset.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of French is a plus.
- Autonomous, organized, with strong analytical and communication skills.
