Introduction

Would you like to move beyond traditional fund accounting or audit and join a role where fund expertise, technology and process improvement come together?

Our client is the AIFM entity of a prestigious international financial group, predominantly focused on Private Equity. Its Luxembourg office employs approximately 60 professionals and acts as a strategic and decision-making hub for the group.

The Luxembourg entity brings together all key ManCo functions, including Risk, Compliance, Controlling, Accounting, Corporate and Legal.

As part of its continued development, the company is currently looking for two Junior Investment Controllers.

This opportunity is particularly suited to a junior professional who already understands the fund industry but wants to do more than execute existing processes. The company is looking for someone who is technology-oriented, curious and confident enough to challenge the way things are currently done.

Responsibilities

Your Responsibilities

You will join a close-knit finance team and work at the intersection of fund controlling, investment operations and process improvement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing NAV calculations prepared by fund administrators;
  • Reviewing financial statements, periodic reports and fund-related financial data;
  • Verifying transactions and supporting controls relating to the funds;
  • Reviewing tax and regulatory matters, including FATCA and CRS;
  • Coordinating with fund administrators and external service providers;
  • Collaborating with Risk, Compliance, Accounting, Corporate and Legal teams;
  • Identifying inefficient or repetitive processes within the department;
  • Using AI and automation tools to improve, simplify and automate internal processes;
  • Developing or improving tools through programming, advanced Excel, macros or other automation solutions;
  • Challenging existing procedures and proposing more efficient ways of working;
  • Gradually taking ownership of cross-functional and operational projects.

This is not a NAV production position. The objective is to build on your existing fund knowledge and progressively develop broader exposure to investment controlling, technology and operational improvement.

Profile

Your Profile

For this position, three elements are particularly important.

  1. You already have a foundation in the fund industry

You have between 1 and 3 years of experience in one of the following areas:

  • Fund Accounting, ideally as a Junior Fund Accountant;
  • Fund Audit, as a Junior Auditor working with investment funds.

You understand the fundamentals of NAVs, financial statements and fund structures. Exposure to alternative investments or Private Equity would be an advantage.

  1. You have a strong interest and real capabilities in technology, AI and automation

The company is specifically looking for someone who can use technology to improve internal processes within the investment department.

You therefore have strong skills or a genuine track record in at least one of the following areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence and AI tools applied to professional processes;
  • Programming or automation;
  • Advanced Excel and Excel macros / VBA;
  • Data processing or workflow optimisation.

You do not necessarily need to be an IT professional, but you should be significantly more technology-oriented than the average junior fund professional and genuinely interested in using AI and automation to improve the way a department operates.

  1. You have a proactive and challenging mindset

This point is equally important.

Although this is a junior position, the company is not looking for someone who simply executes instructions.

You are expected to:

  • Question existing processes when you see room for improvement;
  • Bring ideas and propose solutions;
  • Take initiative without waiting to be asked;
  • Be comfortable expressing your opinion;
  • Demonstrate ownership and a leadership mindset, even at an early stage of your career;
  • Be curious, ambitious and eager to make a visible contribution to the team.

You are also fluent in English. French at B1/B2 level or above would be considered an big advantage.
